Canberra-based bushwalker Kyle Williams is preparing to run the 21 highest peaks in the Snowy Mountains in one go this November, having become the first on record to walk the region’s highest 26 peaks non-stop last year.

Together with Victorian ultra-marathon runner Jamie Smith, Williams will attempt to navigate a 70-kilometre route through the Main Range with a total elevation gain of more than 4,000 metres.

The alpine challenge, which will be largely off-trail, will be Williams’ first ultra-marathon.

He said: “It will be an uncompromising challenge with no crowds or trophies, just two mates pitting themselves against the will of the Australia’s toughest mountains to challenge their limits and create an ultra-running first.”

Smith added: “This run is so unique being part ultra and part adventure, I can’t wait to take it on.”
