Taking place over the weekend of the 30th of April, the AdventurePro Video Film Festival celebrated the work of many local filmmakers and their passion for outdoor adventure.
While organisers believe the quality of this year’s event was even better than previous, audience numbers were down on 2015.
“We seem to have been unlucky with the timing of this year’s premiere being on the weekend between Anzac Day and Mother’s Day,” said Tony Barnett, AdventurePro project manager.
“A lot of people indicated that they would have liked to come along but needed a weekend at home or had existing commitments.”
Barnett also indicated that Mansfield may be too remote a destination for some viewers without planning an entire weekend away.
As a result, organisers are now considering future premiere screening locations in Melbourne or “possibly other state and territory capitals”.
Nevertheless, entrants to the film festival weren’t in short supply, generating an entertaining, family-friendly event with the added excitement of prizes awarded to the best of the bunch.

Organisers of this homegrown adventure film festival are currently calling for expressions of interest from anyone seeking to become involved with growing this event, with the ultimate aim of providing exposure to budding filmmakers and encouraging more people to get active in the outdoors.
