From aviators to scuba divers, nearly everyone with an outdoor hobby has a story to tell – and a camera on their wrist.

The ubiquitous nature of highly portable video cameras and drones is causing the adventure film genre to explode, and that means a great variety of content for people to see – as long as they’re able to sort the wheat from the chaff.

One way of doing that is to host a video competition, which is exactly what the team at AdventurePro have been doing for the past few years. Now in it’s third year, the AdventurePro Video Film Festival is due to return again on May 1st. But for now, the organisers are keen for more submissions to be made prior to the entry cutoff date of April 3rd.

“If you have an adventurous story to tell, a narrative of adventure, want to inspire and awaken people’s adventurous spirits, are an adventurer, explorer or outdoor enthusiast and want to share your story and showcase your talents we encourage you to enter,” said AdventurePro project manager, Tony Barnett.

The organisers are seeking films from every corner of the outdoor adventure world from Australian or New Zealand filmmakers. In order to entice the best quality films, they’ve put a number of valuable prizes on the line, including $1000 in cash for the top prize.

“If you haven’t got the time to make a new video, that’s OK, enter something you’ve already made!” Barnett said. “As long as your film hasn’t previously been entered, we encourage you to enter it this year.”

Anyone considering entering their own footage should first head over to the AdventurePro Video Film Festival webpage for further prize information and inspiration. Highlights of the 2015 festival can be seen in the 2016 promotion video via YouTube.
